Are you training for an event?
When you’re training for an event, the increase in frequency, intensity and/or duration of your sessions creates the perfect storm for any imbalances you’ve been carrying under the radar to come out in full force.
It’s common for us to see clients who’ve been running for years, but when they start training for their first half or full marathon (for example) they start getting issues and wonder where they’ve come from.
Quite simply, (and if you’ve seen my ‘water bucket analogy’ post you probably know where I’m going with this) almost all of us are carrying imbalances that our body can manage – until we add just a little too much, the ‘bucket’ of tension overflows, and we’re often left with an injury that means we can’t compete in our event.
How a regular massage can help
A regular massage can help keep on top of any tension that’s developing as you increase the intensity, frequency or duration of your training sessions.
The therapist knows what to look for in your muscles, and can check if your stretching or activation work is having the desired effect.
After 10+ years of helping clients prepare for anything from their first 5k, to Ironmans, Spartans, and even 100-mile ultras, we have a lot of experience supporting clients in event prep.
Our Event Prep Package
If you’re training for an event this year, and want to take care of your muscles, you may want to try our event prep package.
It includes 1 x MOT + report, 2 x 60 min massage sessions, and a 30 min pre and post event flush (which you can combine for a 3rd 60 min session if you wish).
The MOT + report will check the muscles you’ll be using for your event to check for muscle tension, imbalances, or even lack of activation. You get a report within a few days after the MOT so you don’t have to worry about remembering everything we’ve told you in that session.
Then, 2 x 60 min sessions are for maintenance (usually, if you don’t have any big pains you can have them at 3 or 4-weekly intervals) and to help you stay accountable on the self-care that was identified in the MOT.
Finally, your pre and post event massages are flushes to help you freshen up before the event, and help flush your muscles post-event (which according to our clients usually helps reduce post-event soreness and seems to improve recovery time).
If you’d like our support in your even this year, click below to purchase your Event Prep Package and then book your first 60 min session under ‘First Appointment – 60 minutes’ with a note ‘Event Prep Package.’
The investment is only £260, or a 3-monthly payment plan is available, saving £30 over buying these sessions separately.
