Certain medical conditions mean that before we can treat you we need an okay from your GP – these are general contraindications. There are other medical conditions that may mean we need to alter what we do in a treatment or avoid certain techniques – these are local contraindications. We ask you that you tell us when you book about any medical conditions you have, in case we can’t see you without a GP consent. Here are some examples of contraindications:

Cancer (current or historic)
Hemophilia
Heart attack
Blood diseases
Fever
Systemic infections (like cold or flu)
DVT (blood clots) – present or a history of
If you have any of these, either wait until you feel better (in the case of infection or fever) or double check with your GP before booking or attending an appointment.
Examples of local contraindications:
Varicose veins
Osteoarthritis
Broken bones
Skin infections
Open wounds
Other medical conditions may not specifically be contraindications but we may need you to check with your GP first, or adjust how we work. Examples of this include:
Diabetes, Type I or II
Pregnancy
Low blood pressure
